Privacy policy — Edinara Learning app
What the Edinara Learning app collects, why, who can see it, and how to have your account and data removed.
Which app this covers
This policy covers the Edinara Learning app for Android, published on Google Play by Edumia. It does not cover the Edumia website, which has its own notice at /legal/privacy. Where the app is provided to you by a school or institute, that institution decides what is recorded about you; Edumia operates the system on their behalf.
What the app collects
Your name, mobile number and email address. Your roll number or admission number, and the class and section you belong to. Your attendance, the marks recorded for your assessments, and your fee record. Any photograph or file you upload through the app, and the study material made available to you. This is the full list; the app does not collect anything beyond it.
Signing in
You sign in with your mobile number and a one-time code sent to it by SMS. The code is used only to confirm the number belongs to you. We do not use your number to send marketing, and there is no advertising in the app.
Who can see it
Your teachers and the school office can see the records relating to you. A parent or guardian linked to your account can see your attendance, marks and fees. Edumia staff can see records only where it is necessary to run and support the system, and access is logged. We do not sell your information, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not hand it to anyone else except where the law requires it.
Services we use to run the app
The app carries no advertising network, no third-party analytics and no crash-reporting service. Two things do involve another company, and we would rather state them than leave them out: the one-time sign-in code is delivered by an SMS provider, which receives your mobile number for that purpose alone, and the data is held on servers operated by our hosting provider. Neither is permitted to use your information for anything else.
Students and age
The app is intended for students aged 13 and over, together with their parents, guardians and school staff. Where a student is under 18, the app is used with the knowledge of their school and guardian, and the guardian may ask the school to correct or remove anything recorded about the student.
How long we keep it
Academic records are kept for as long as you are enrolled and for the period afterwards that your school is required to retain them. If you ask for your account to be deleted, we remove the information that identifies you; the school may be obliged to keep anonymised academic and fee records for its own statutory period, and we will tell you which of the two applies to you.
Keeping it safe
Traffic to and from the app is encrypted in transit. Sign-in codes are short-lived and single-use. Access on the server side is limited to the people who need it to do their work, and is recorded. No system can promise perfect security, and anyone who tells you otherwise is not being straight with you; if a breach ever affects you, we will tell you what was involved and what to do.
Deleting your account and your data
You can ask for your account and the personal data in it to be deleted. Write to care@edumia.net from the email address on the account, or ask your school office to raise it with us, and tell us your registered mobile number so we can find the right record. We will confirm what will be deleted, carry it out, and confirm when it is done. You can also ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, and ask us to correct anything wrong.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected about you or who can see it, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect, and the date at the foot of this page will change.
Contact, and complaints
Questions, requests and complaints about privacy go to care@edumia.net. Write to the same address if you are not satisfied with how we have handled a request, and say so plainly — it is escalated rather than re-queued. If the matter concerns a school using the app, you may also raise it with that school directly.
